Jay Manuel

Jay Manuel born 14 August 1972

Jay Manuel was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to an Italian mother and South African father, and is a make-up artist and fashion photographer, most recognisable as the creative director of photo shoots on the popular reality television show America's Next Top Model and the host and chief judge of the second and third cycles of Canada's Next Top Model.

He and friend J. Alexander, also an ANTM personality, often appear on E! Network's Fashion Wrap with Debbie Matenopoulos. Manuel hosts his own show Style Her Famous on the Style Network and recently introduced his own make-up line, Manuel Override on QVC.

Manuel was a pre-med student at New York University (NYU) when he began working as a make-up artist in the fashion industry.

More than just a make-up artist, Manuel's unique vision extends much further, having designed ad campaigns and provided stunning conceptual direction for various fashion editorials. His collaborations with legendary photographers Herb Ritts, Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz and Francesco Scavullo have enhanced the pages of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire and the Victoria's Secret catalogue.

This might sound mean, but sometimes I think there are masculine men who are happy being masculine; comfortably identifying as gay. And then there are feminine men who seem like a woman inside a male body.
Jay Manuel seems to be that type, a female reluctantly inside a male's body - thinking of himself as one of the girls. Thats how he acts; female ... and often a bitchy one.
And for masculine-able gay men, it is an annoyance, ... especially as female acting gays give all gays a bad rep.
I could further my meanness by saying he is merely a Beiber haircut away from being as disgusting as Steven Cojocaru

Yeah Rider Overland it does sound mean. If Jay Manuel is being bitchy on a reality show about fashion you're being bitchy on a gay blog.

There are many colors in the rainbow. I believe there is room for masculine acting gay men, feminine acting gay man, trans, drag queen, closet cases and all the rest. We should embrace diversity and not feel the need to bring other people down.

I am not sexually attracted to Jay Manuel or J. Alexander. But I do embrace their right to stand side by side next to me as part of one big gay community.

Do you also have problems with metrosexual hetero men? Does it annoy you when a heterosexual man is effeminate?

I think you should step back, look in the mirror and ask yourself "why do I need to judge."
