Mathew Bose

Mathew Bose born 3 July 1973

Mathew Bose is an English actor, best known for his role as Paul Lambert in the television series Emmerdale.

Mathew Bose was born in south east London. He is half Indian.

When he was young the family moved to India and at the age of six he returned to the UK to stay with his aunt. He's also lived in Milan, Paris, New York, and Los Angeles. Mathew now splits his time between Leeds and the home in Islington, London he shares with his partner James Ditchfield, a television director.

In the early days of his career, Mathew was a model. He studied psychology in Los Angeles where his lecturer suggested he join performance classes but he was unsuccessful with regards to acting work and returned to England.

Mathew won his first role at 23, and has since appeared in the TV sitcom, My Family and starred in the shows Cutting It, Silent Witness and Coupling. He won the role of Paul Lambert in early 2004 and his first Emmerdale debut was in September 2004.

In Emmerdale, most of his storylines has centered around his character's homosexuality. He reportedly told producers of his intense dislike of a storyline involving a gay/bi love triangle. He felt it was out of character and made gay men look promiscuous.

Bose's theatre work includes a production of the Noel Coward play A Song at Twilight at the Gielgud Theatre, for which he appeared alongside Vanessa Redgrave, Kika Markham and Corin Redgrave.
