Gary Beach

Gary Beach born 10 October 1947

Gary Beach is a Tony Award-winning American actor, primarily in Broadway musical theatre.

His television credits include Recording the Producers (a documentary for PBS), Queer as Folk, Murder, She Wrote, Cheers and Saved by the Bell.

He performed in the chorus of Les Misérables: The Complete Symphonic Recording.

Beach has had notable performances on Broadway over the past few decades, including Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast, and as Roger DeBris in The Producers, for which he won a Tony Award in 2001. He returned to Broadway in La Cage aux Folles (playing the role played by Nathan Lane in the film The Birdcage, with whom he worked in The Producers.)

Recently, he reprised his role as Roger De Bris on stage in The Producers whilst the film version was simultaneously released. He thus became the first person in Broadway history to play the same role on both Broadway and film at the same time.

He lives with his partner Jeff Barnett (a real estate agent and actor) in Los Angeles. They were one of the first couples to undergo a commitment ceremony in New York state following national debate over gay marriage.

Beach appeared as Thénardier, the role that he originated in the original Los Angeles production, in the recent cast of the revival of Les Misérables on Broadway.

Gary Beach is currently playing the role of King Arthur in the lengthy US tour of the Monty Python musical Spamalot.
