Dan Butler

Daniel E. Butler born in Fort Wayne, Indiana is a successful TV and film actor who is best known for his role as Bulldog Briscoe on the long-running TV series Frasier.

Openly gay, he wrote an off-Broadway play about his life, titled The Only Thing Worse You Could Have Told Me... (allegedly what Dan Butler's father told him when Dan came out to him).

Since coming out, Butler has been an active and vocal supporter of LGBT and HIV/AIDS causes.

Butler has been in a stable relationship with acting teacher Richard Waterhouse since the mid-1990s. Although they had known each other before, they cemented their relationship soon after Waterhouse lost a former lover to AIDS.
